After Manchester United drew 1-1 with Bournemouth, Manchester United coach Ruben Amorim admitted in the post-match press conference that the team still needs to make continuous improvements in details, but he stressed that they must take one step at a time and proceed steadily in the future.
Amorim pointed out that the team was in trouble at the beginning of the game. The opponent's high pressure caused Manchester United to make many mistakes when controlling the ball in the backcourt, which directly led to the passive situation. Amorim said: "If you watch our games, it is always because of some of our own mistakes that make the game more difficult."
"If you look at the whole game, especially in the second half, especially after the other team had a player sent off, we found some ways into the box, which is a positive sign. Although we got one goal back, I think today we lost two points."
Talking about the tactical adjustments on the field, Amorim said that some players were arranged in unfamiliar positions mainly to adapt to the changes on the field and prepare for overtime. He especially emphasized the calmness and concentration in the stoppage time: "If you lose the ball in a counterattack in the stoppage time, the game may be ended directly. These details are more important than complex tactical changes."
Regarding the future development of Manchester United, Amorim admitted that there is still a gap between Manchester United and the top teams, but he firmly believes that the gap can be gradually narrowed through continuous efforts: "Take it step by step, don't rush for success. Our ultimate goal is to win the Premier League championship."
"I know this won't happen next year, but we are building a future of our own. We are already doing this this year, and we will need to improve further next year. Every day's hard work will bring us our own rewards."
